TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Police on Sunday were investigating the shooting death of a man outside the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington.

Local law enforcement officials responded to the shooting inside a parking lot at the casino at about midnight on Saturday. The Puyallup Tribal Police performed CPR on the victim before he was pronounced dead around 1 a.m.

Tribal police said a male suspect fled on foot from the scene and that the incident doesn’t appear to have been a robbery. Officials are working to gather video evidence from nearby businesses and have contacted the FBI to aid in the investigation.

TACOMA, Wash. – Near midnight Friday, July 31, Puyallup Tribal Police responded to a report of a shooting at the south parking garage of Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma. A male suspect fled on foot.

Tribal officers assisted Emerald Queen security in performing CPR on the victim, also a male. Tacoma Fire Department and Tacoma Police Department units also responded.

The victim was pronounced deceased shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the shooting did not appear to be a robbery. Following standard procedure for major crimes on the Puyallup reservation, Tribal police called in the FBI to investigate and are now assisting. Police are recovering video evidence from nearby establishments owned by the Puyallup Tribe.
