Restaurant La Terraza Del Casino Madrid
Jaime Hayón has given the interiors of two-Michelin star restaurant La Terraza del Casino a brightly coloured makeover that rolls back the years.
The Spanish designer has respected the Madrid building’s historic bones, choosing to play with colour inside the restaurant, helmed by chef Paco Roncero. It’s the only public part of the gentleman’s clubhouse Casino de Madrid, established in 1836 on the city’s Calle Alcalá.
Says Hayón: ‘La Terraza del Casino has always been a platform for experimenting, a temple to cuisine, but also a place where interior design becomes an art where colour flows and the furniture tells stories, details that describe dreams.’
Walls have been painted a vivid green, and ceilings strung with dramatic chandeliers made with conical shades and funnel-like fixtures.

La Terraza’s dining rooms are connected via colourful stained-glass doors and swooping archways. Hayón has echoed these curves in the circular tables and paired them yellow chairs.
A clown-like trolley cabinet adds a youthful touch, and there are serving carts featuring oversized wheels and navy frames that match the restaurant’s deep blue columns.
Roncero’s team serves up award-winning Spanish and international cuisine from La Terraza’s kitchen. Dishes include sole with black butter and John Dory à la royale with mole.
